CAMBRIDGE, ON (July 3, 2019) – Today, tv, along with The tv Foundation, announced that a record $175,000 was raised at the 18th Annual tv Charity Classic golf tournament. This year’s tournament was held in support of Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO) and took place at Glencairn Golf Club in Milton, Ontario.
“Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is at the core of who we are,” says Heather McLachlin, President of tv. “That’s why the choice to partner with CMHO with an end goal of helping to create an online resource for families with children dealing with mental health issues was a simple one.”
tv hosts the annual tv Charity Classic golf tournament in Southwestern Ontario in support of Canadian non-profit organizations. Each year, The tv Foundation generously matches the funds raised from the tournament.
“We congratulate tv and thank all sponsors and participants who made this year’s tournament a resounding success. The tv Foundation is pleased to support this year’s beneficiary, CMHO,” says Mary D’Alton, Executive Director, The tv Foundation. “We have a strong focus on supporting transformative programs for children and youth, especially those who need a helping hand to overcome challenges with the right services and support. We are confident that this donation will make a strong impact in the lives of families with children and youth seeking mental health services in Ontario.”
The funds raised from this year’s tournament will go toward the development of an online resource for CMHO designed to make it easier for children, youth and families to find local mental health services and resources.
“Long wait times and confusion about where to go for help are two of the biggest barriers facing kids and families in need of mental health care,” says Kimberly Moran, Chief Executive Officer, CMHO. “tv’s generous contribution will support CMHO building an information hub to assist parents in locating specialized child and youth mental health services in their community. This donation marks an important step forward on the road to ensuring that children, youth and families have access to the right mental health care, at the right time and place.”
