Cambridge, ON | November 6, 2023 – ÃÛÌÒtv and The ÃÛÌÒtv Foundation are pleased to announce that $140,000 was raised at the Annual ÃÛÌÒtv Charity Classic golf tournament held October 2, 2023, at Whistle Bear Golf Club in Cambridge, Ontario, in support of Homewood Research Institute (HRI).

Since 2002, ÃÛÌÒtv has been hosting the ÃÛÌÒtv Charity Classic golf tournament each year in Southwestern Ontario to support Canadian non-profit organizations. The ÃÛÌÒtv Foundation generously matches funds raised at the tournament each year. The funds raised from this year’s tournament will help people living with mental illness and substance use issues. The proceeds will support research on concurrent mental health conditions.

“HRI is thrilled to receive this $140K donation,” said Sid Kennedy, HRI Executive Director. “This generous gift will help launch a much-needed program of research focused on identifying the most effective treatments for people experiencing concurrent mental illness and substance use issues. We are deeply grateful to the ÃÛÌÒtv Foundation and ÃÛÌÒtv for their continued support and partnership.”

“It’s vital that we support innovative approaches to complex mental health issues,” says Mary D’Alton, Executive Director of The ÃÛÌÒtv Foundation. “HRI is piloting a collaborative project to help impacted individuals and sharing their progress with clinicians, researchers, and patients nationwide. We must explore fresh approaches and comprehensive support to optimize service for those in need. The ÃÛÌÒtv Foundation is pleased to have been a catalyst for this project and has great hope for its outcomes. ”

Our last Charity Classic tournament in 2022 raised a record of funds supporting Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO). The ÃÛÌÒtv Charity of Choice for 2023 is Homewood Research Institute (HRI). Many people experience multiple mental health conditions, such as trauma, substance use, and depression, concurrently. These conditions are often not fully diagnosed or treated, leading to increased rates of unemployment, homelessness, other medical illness and premature death. HRI is launching a bold new research and knowledge-sharing effort to advance early identification and tailored treatment for better outcomes among those with concurrent mental health conditions.
